    Deborah Penta is the founder and CEO of PENTA Communications, Inc. a full service integrated and interactive marketing firm that was founded in 1989. Headquartered in Westborough, the firm services Boston, Providence, and has clients throughout the country. The Company has been awarded with a "Best of Business Award in Marketing Services," and numerous other industry and community awards for marketing excellence and community commitment. For over 20 years, Ms. Penta has worked with CEOs, presidents and senior level management teams at client companies to help shape strategic and effective marketing, advertising and public relations programs. Her experience in both international and domestic markets offers a multi-faceted approach to formulating effective marketing solutions. She is a past Chair of the Board for the Corridor Nine Chamber of Commerce, Immediate past Chair of the Board for the Worcester Community Action Council and is Chair of the Female Leadership Interest Council. She is on the board of directors of the Central Massachusetts Workforce Investment Board, the Worcester Regional Research Bureau, the Corridor Nine Chamber of Commerce, Worcester Community Action Council, and is on the Massport Business Advisory Committee for Worcester Airport. She is also an adjunct professor and an Entrepreneur in Residence at Clark University. She is the recipient of the 2009 Philanthropy of Distinction Award, Eli Whitney Award, WBJ Women in Business Award and Woman of Distinction Award.

    Bonnie Sullivan is a Vice President in the Commercial Banking Group at Middlesex Savings Bank. Middlesex is a stable, well-capitalized community-oriented mutual bank with assets of $4 billion. The Bank is headquartered in Natick and has 30 branches throughout Greater Boston and MetroWest. The Bank employs 600 people with 180 people in Westborough at its 80,000 sq. ft. bank-owned state of the art training and operations facility. Ms. Sullivan joined Middlesex after 25 years with MassDevelopment, the Commonwealth’s finance and development authority. As a lender and developer, the Agency works with private and public sector clients to stimulate economic growth by introducing incentives to leverage private development and financing. Bonnie has served on the Boards of the 495/MetroWest Partnership, the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce and Risk Management Association of New England. Bonnie’s professional background and active involvement in the community guide her work on the EDC.

    Herb founded Alexander, Aronson, Finning, & Co., P.C. in 1973. In addition to audits, his particular expertise includes business valuations and accounting forensics, having appeared as an expert witness for both. He is frequently involved in succession and transition planning, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. His clients are primarily closely held businesses and he serves as financial advisor to high net worth families.

    He is a graduate of Boston University's College of Business Administration where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Herb was awarded the Silver Medal for high achievement on the CPA Examination. Following graduation, he worked for a large international public accounting firm for six years and later for a medium-size manufacturing company where he served as that company's chief financial officer.

    He is active in a number of charitable organizations, is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Worcester Art Museum and is on the Investment Committee of Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries. Herb is involved in the Massachusetts Easter Seals of Massachusetts and was formerly a member of its Board of Directors. This association awarded Herb the Parker Trowbridge Award, its highest service award. In addition, in 2009, Herb received the Good Scout Award from the Knox Trail Boy Scout Council. 

    Professionally, Herb is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and is the most recent past Chairman and President of the International Association of Practising Accountants, a U. K. based global association of independent accounting firms and groups. Herb earned the Certificate in Financial Forensics (CFF) issued by the AICPA. Herb is also a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and has served as a committee chairperson and a member of the Board of Directors. 

    In addition, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Boston Private Financial Holdings Corp., a publicly traded company (Nasdaq; BPFH) and its wholly owned subsidiary, Boston Private Bank and Trust Company. He serves in leadership positions on several of the holding company and banks' committees. Herb is also a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and was awarded the Institute's Certificate of Director Education. Other memberships include the Alumni Board of the School of Management at Boston University and the advisory committee of Northeastern University Graduate School of Professional Accounting. Herb is also an active member of the Town of Westborough Economic Development Committee and the Corridor Nine Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee.

    As a Chartered Financial Consultant Professional, James Ball is President and founder of James N. Ball & Company, Inc., a family wealth management firm established in 1984 and based in Westborough, MA.

    As a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser Representative affiliated with Commonwealth Financial Network for 30 years, Jim counsels clients in areas of investment, insurance, business, tax and estate planning. He holds FINRA Series 6, 7, 22 & 63 registrations and is also a Licensed Insurance Agent.

    With a staff of eight including three co-advisers, Jim has established a unique and innovative team approach to establishing and maintaining client relationships, currently working with hundreds of families in over 30 states.

    Mr. Ball earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, majoring in Finance. He is an Institute Associate of the Northeastern University Insurance and Financial Services Institute. Jim earned his Chartered Financial Consultant Designation from The American College, Bryn Mawr, PA. He has also been a member of the Society of Financial Services Professionals for over 20 years.

    Jim serves as a Director on the Board of Avidia Bank located in Hudson, MA. He is committee chairman of the bank’s Non-Deposit Investment Products Committee and a member of the IT Steeering and Audit Committee.

    Mr. Ball serves as an Ambassador for the Town of Westborough Economic Development Committee, and he and his family are major supporters of the YMCA Boroughs branch.

  • Ian Johnson, Selectman

    Ian Johnson is a Selectman in the Town of Westborough, elected in May of 2011.  Prior to his election, Ian spent 9 years on the Advisory Finance Committee for the Town, two of those as Chairman. He has also served the Town as a member of the Capital Expenditures Planning Committee. 

    Ian is a lifelong resident of the Town. He is married and has one son. He is involved in the community with Cub Scout Pack 100, the Westborough Youth Soccer Association, and the Westborough Good Scout Committee.

    Professionally, Ian is Vice President, Institutional Product Development at Pyramis Global Advisors, a unit of Fidelity Investments. In this role, Ian is responsible for the creation, enhancement, and roll-out of Pyramis investment products across all investment disciplines. He has 22 years of investment industry experience.

    Ian earned his BA in Economics from Eckerd College and a Master of Science in Finance from Boston College. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Eckerd College.

    Jim Malloy has been the Town Manager of Westborough for three years, he brings over 20 years of experience in municipal management and has served on numerous boards and committees over the past two decades. He has served on federally funded regional economic development councils and has been a lead contact person in four different local governments on economic development matters. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and a Masters Degree in Public Administration and is a ICMA Credentialed Manager.

    James Robbins has been the Westborough Town Planner since 1993. He serves the Westborough Planning Board conducting plan review and writing recommendations on subdivisions, Special Permits and Site Plan Reviews. He also makes presentations at Town Meeting regarding zoning changes and Planning Board initiatives. He is responsible for updating the Town's Master Plan. Jim serves the Design Review Board overseeing the architectural integrity Westborough's downtown. He is a member of the Westborough Economic Development Commission helping to recruit new business while assiting existing companies in their future plans to assure their continued success.

    Prior to Westborough, Jim was a Planner for the City of Boston for ten years working on economic development, grant writing and serving as a project manager on the Central Artery Project during its plan development phase. He was hired during Mayor Kevin White's Administration and served through Mayor Ray Flynn's tenure working initially in the Mayor's Office and later for the Redevelopment Authority. Jim is a past President of the Massachusetts Association of Planning Directors and a member of the American Planning Association.

    He holds a Bachelors Degree in Urban Studies from the University of Connecticut and a Master Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Tech.
